Bio
Born in 1987 in Trieste, Christian Federici studied piano from the age of six. After a graduation in Computer Science he began studying opera singing in 2015 with the tenor Federico Lepre, then with Claudio Desderi at the School of Music of Fiesole, Patrizia Ciofi and Gianfranco Montrésor.
He made his debut in 2016 as Count of Almaviva in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro in Cesena, conducted by Claudio Desderi, with whom he did Don Giovanni (as title-role) in 2017 (both staged by Matelda Cappelletti).
After winning international competitions of Teatro Lirico Sperimentale “Adriano Belli” in Spoleto and “Toti Dal Monte” in Treviso (2018) he sang Nozze di Figaro in Treviso, Jesi and Ferrara as Count of Almaviva, role played also in 2019 with his debut in France at the Opéra de Marseille. Then he joined reknown festivals in Italy, such as Ravenna Festival, Donizetti Festival in Bergamo and Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, he made his debut at the Opera Hong Kong and Opéra Grand Avignon as Sharpless in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, role recently played also in Shanghai in the revival production of Royal Opera House Covent Garden.
He recently sung the role of Turbo in the contemporary opera Hadrian by Rufus Wainwright at Teatro Real de Madrid, Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen in Kiel, Mozart's Don Giovanni (as title-role) and Così fan tutte (Don Alfonso) in Ravenna, Rimini and Salerno, Roberto in Verdi's I vespri siciliani at Teatro Alla Scala Milan, Marcello in Puccini's La bohème in Ravenna, Rimini, Ferrara and Pisa, Figaro in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Riccardo in Bellini's I puritani and Enrico in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor in Catania.
In Autumn 2024 he made his debutes at Glyndebourne Festival as Germont in Verdi's La traviata, with acclaimed success of audience and critics, at Teatro Regio di Torino, as title-role in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and at Teatro Comunale in Sassari, as Marcello in Puccini's La bohème.
He worked with famous conductors including Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Stefano Ranzani, Daniel Oren, Riccardo Frizza, Yves Abel and important stage directors such as Hugo de Ana, Chiara Muti, Vincent Boussard and Daniel Benoin.
Appreciated also in chamber music, he did several recitals of the greatest german repertoire masterpieces, like Schubert’s Winterreise, Schumann’s Dichterliebe and Liederkreis, Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder with reknown pianists such as Riccardo Risaliti and Filippo Gorini and performed in concert Mozart’s Krönungsmesse, Bach’s Matthäuspassion, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and Rutter’s Mass of the Children. Since 2022 he has collaborated with the pianist Elia Macrì.
Plans include Mozart's Don Giovanni in Catania and Rodrigue in Verdi's Don Carlos in Kiel.
